Health Minister Nadda Intensifies TB Elimination Efforts under PM-PRAGATI

Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda has taken a decisive step in the fight against tuberculosis, reinforcing India's resolve to eradicate the disease by 2025. In a high-level meeting under the PM-PRAGATI platform, Nadda reviewed the progress of the TB elimination efforts, underscoring the crucial role of coordinated governance and societal participation in this health crusade.

PM-PRAGATI, an ICT-enabled platform for Pro-Active Governance and Timely Implementation, has been instrumental in aligning multiple government departments towards a common goal. The review meeting, attended by Minister of State for Defence Sanjay Seth, focused on enhancing the inter-ministerial convergence that is pivotal to the success of the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.

The programme's second phase concentrates on reaching those with undetected tuberculosis, a task that requires meticulous coordination and robust community engagement. Nadda emphasised the significance of the campaign's 100-day strategy, which aims to expand the reach of healthcare services to the remotest corners of the country. He noted that the effort is not merely a health initiative but a testament to India's commitment to improving public health infrastructure.

Against the backdrop of a global TB burden, India has taken bold steps to address the challenges posed by the disease. The government's strategy involves not only medical interventions but also social support mechanisms, recognising that TB's impact is as much social as it is medical.

Nadda's review underscores the government's proactive stance in harnessing technology for effective governance. PM-PRAGATI's role in ensuring timely implementation of health initiatives marks a significant departure from traditional bureaucratic processes, aiming instead for a nimble and responsive approach.

As the TB Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan advances, the emphasis on technology-driven governance and the whole-of-society approach are expected to catalyse significant progress. The challenge remains formidable, but with sustained effort and innovation, the vision of a TB-free India could indeed become a reality.
