Rajnath Singh Accuses Opposition of Exploiting Youth in Political Protests

In the charged atmosphere of Delhi's Jantar Mantar, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh has launched a scathing critique of the Opposition, particularly targeting the Congress for allegedly employing students as political instruments. As protests fuelled by a mélange of grievances continue, Singh's remarks underscore the tension brewing at the heart of India's capital.

Addressing a gathering, Singh stated, "Some people are attempting to use the students and youth of our country as a political tool to fulfil their political interests." His comments come amid ongoing protests against the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET) and the contentious debate over reservations for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and Other Backward Classes.

Political Chess with the Youth

Singh accused the Opposition of 'manufacturing anger' and using the streets as their platform rather than the parliamentary precincts. "They are making false allegations against us," he asserted, urging for issues to be resolved through dialogue in Parliament rather than through street protests.

The Defence Minister's comments also touched on the recent arrest of Republic TV's Arnab Goswami, which Singh condemned as an affront to democratic principles, further fuelling the existing political discord.

A Call for Constructive Debate

The Congress, on its part, has challenged the BJP to clarify its stance on the reservation cap for disadvantaged communities, a matter that continues to polarise opinions. Meanwhile, Singh reassured that the government is committed to addressing the legitimate concerns of students, ensuring that no injustice befalls them.

The rhetoric from both sides highlights a deeper struggle for influence over India's younger generation, a demographic whose voices are becoming increasingly potent in shaping the nation's political landscape.
