Central Bank of India Unveils Bharat Connect for Seamless Business Transactions

In a determined stride towards enhancing digital financial services, the Central Bank of India has launched Bharat Connect, an innovative platform designed to facilitate seamless business transactions. This latest initiative, developed in collaboration with NPCI Bharat BillPay Ltd, promises to revolutionise the way businesses handle invoicing, payments, collections, and settlements.

The launch of Bharat Connect is a strategic move as the country accelerates its push towards a digital economy. It aligns with the Viksit Bharat vision, aiming to foster a more inclusive and technologically advanced financial ecosystem.

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has also added a robust feature set to this platform. By introducing multicurrency foreign exchange services, Bharat Connect now enables customers to transact in five major global currencies in addition to the US dollar. This move is expected to benefit a wide array of users, including those involved in international travel, education, and business.

RBI Deputy Governor Rohit Jain, who announced these enhancements, emphasised the importance of broadening the reach of digital payments and foreign exchange services. The new platform offers unprecedented access to a range of currencies, including the Euro and the British Pound, thus widening the scope of India's retail forex services beyond traditional banking channels.

Moreover, the platform is set to offer UPI tap-to-pay functionality for transactions up to ₹5,000 without the need for a PIN, further simplifying the payment process for consumers. This feature underscores the RBI's commitment to creating a seamless, user-friendly digital payment environment.

As Bharat Connect embarks on its journey to integrate digital payments more deeply into the business fabric of India, it stands as a testament to the nation’s ongoing efforts to modernise its financial infrastructure. The platform’s success could well be a pivotal moment in India's digital transformation narrative.
