Education as the Cornerstone of Future-Ready India, Says Himachal Governor
In the picturesque environs of Shimla, Governor Shiv Pratap Shukla delivered a stirring address on the pivotal role of education in shaping a progressive and inclusive India. Speaking at a recent educational summit, Shukla contended that the essence of education extends beyond mere academic achievement. 'Education should not be confined to the pages of textbooks. It must inspire students to become architects of a brighter future,' he asserted.
Shukla's vision for education aligns seamlessly with India's aspirations under its upcoming BRICS chairmanship in 2026, which emphasises innovation, digital public infrastructure and emerging technologies. He posited that education is the bedrock upon which these aspirations can be realised, particularly in rural areas where quality education remains elusive.
He lauded the dedication of teachers, whom he described as the 'torchbearers of change', and called for greater investment in educational infrastructure. 'The rural youth must be equipped with skills that enable them to thrive in a fast-evolving world,' Shukla remarked, highlighting the need for a curriculum that goes beyond rote learning to cultivate critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
Moreover, Shukla linked educational reform to broader health and societal goals, such as a tuberculosis-free Himachal Pradesh by 2026. This holistic approach, he argued, is essential for fostering a society that is not only educated but also healthy and resilient.
