At the recent Techceleration 2026 summit, Karnataka Minister Priyank Kharge extolled the virtues of the HDB region, highlighting its emerging role as a nucleus for technology, manufacturing, and investment. 'We are witnessing a transformation,' he said, 'as HDB becomes a hub for advanced engineering, deep tech, and electronic system design and manufacturing (ESDM).' This strategic push aims to decentralise the economic growth that has long been concentrated in Bengaluru.

The state's focus is not merely about spreading development but also about tapping into India’s broader economic ambitions. The rise of electric vehicles (EVs) and battery manufacturing as key industries exemplifies this shift. As global markets pivot towards sustainable energy solutions, the HDB region is positioning itself as a crucial player in this transition.
Sanjeev Gupta, CEO of the Karnataka Digital Economy Mission (KDEM), noted the state's foresight in developing world-class deep-tech capabilities. 'Karnataka is investing ahead of the curve,' Gupta remarked, underscoring the state's commitment to nurturing high-tech industries beyond its capital city.
