Jagan Slams Government's Hasty Moves in Education Sector

YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, the outspoken leader of the YSR Congress Party, has launched a scathing attack on the Andhra Pradesh government, accusing it of irresponsible decision-making that has left the state's education department in turmoil. In a fiery statement, Jagan lamented the alleged drop in enrolment in government schools, contradicting official claims of increased student numbers.

According to Jagan, the government's decision to consolidate the preparation of question papers and the execution of examinations under the SCERT Director, rather than maintaining separate responsibilities, is a recipe for disaster. 'Such a concentration of power,' he argued, 'not only jeopardises the integrity of the examination process but also undermines the confidence of students and parents alike.'

Adding to the disarray, Jagan highlighted the unexpected ousting of the official serving as the TET convener, who was also tasked with the DSC examination, and replacing them with a Joint Commissioner from the Education Department. This abrupt change, he claimed, has created further instability within the system.

Jagan's criticisms come amidst reports of police misconduct during protests in Visakhapatnam, where students and parents took to the streets to voice their concerns over the government's handling of educational affairs. The unrest serves as a stark reminder of the growing discontent among the public.

While the government maintains that their reforms will benefit students in the long term, Jagan's accusations of 'reckless decisions' and 'unnecessary upheaval' suggest that the road ahead may be fraught with challenges. As political tensions simmer, the impact of these changes on the state's education landscape remains a matter of intense debate.
