Nagaland Partners with Google to Revolutionise School Education
In a bold stride towards modernising its educational landscape, the government of Nagaland has inked a significant Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with tech giant Google. Valued at over 10 crore, the deal was unveiled at the Tech X Gaming Expo 2026 in Kohima, setting the stage for an educational renaissance in the state.
Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio, speaking at the announcement, highlighted the transformative potential of this collaboration. 'Digital literacy, artificial intelligence, and e-sports are not just buzzwords,' he noted, 'they are the pillars of the future we envision for our youth.' The partnership aims to embed these elements into the school ecosystem, ensuring that students are not only tech-savvy but also ready to tackle the challenges of a rapidly evolving digital world.
The MoU was signed by Thavaseelan K, Principal Director of School Education, and Devendra Gaur, Senior Vice President of EMBIBE, in the presence of Nellayappan B, Deputy Director of School Education. This initiative underscores Nagaland's commitment to embracing technology in education, with a keen focus on STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) subjects.
While the digital divide remains a challenge in many parts of India, Nagaland's proactive approach could serve as a model for other states. By fostering an environment where digital tools and innovative teaching methods are commonplace, the government hopes to equip students with skills that are crucial in the 21st century.
Moreover, this partnership could potentially spark a ripple effect across the region, encouraging other states to follow suit. As digital literacy becomes increasingly essential, Nagaland's initiative is not just about keeping up with the times but about leading the charge into the future of education.
