Odisha's Ambitious Push for Electric Buses to Green Urban Transport
In a bid to transform urban mobility and foster a cleaner environment, the state of Odisha is embarking on an ambitious plan to introduce over 400 electric buses across its major cities. The Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) will spearhead this initiative, deploying the eco-friendly vehicles in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Rourkela, Sambalpur, and Berhampur.
While the concept of electric mobility has gained traction in urban areas, rural regions remain largely untouched by this transition. The Odisha State Road Transport Corporation has already floated tenders to induct 100 electric buses into its fleet, highlighting the state's commitment to expanding sustainable transport.
