The grand hall of Vigyan Bhawan was abuzz with anticipation as President Droupadi Murmu took the stage on Teachers’ Day to confer the National Awards to Teachers. The ceremony, held in New Delhi, marked a celebration of educators who have gone above and beyond the call of duty.
In her address, President Murmu paid homage to the teaching profession, describing it as a noble vocation that extends beyond the traditional classroom. She remarked, "Teaching is not merely a job; it is a commitment to shaping young minds and, in turn, the future of our nation." Her words resonated deeply with the audience, comprised of awardees, dignitaries, and education enthusiasts.
This year, 21 teachers from various educational institutions were honoured for their exceptional contributions. Among the recipients were educators from higher education institutions and polytechnics, each recognised for their innovative approaches to teaching and their dedication to student development.
The awards ceremony underscored the importance of educators in a rapidly evolving world. With education systems facing unprecedented challenges, the President’s recognition serves as a reminder of the vital role teachers play in nurturing critical thinking and creativity among students.
The Ministry of Education, which organises these awards annually, emphasised the need for continued investment in teacher training and development. As the nation strives to enhance its educational standards, such acknowledgements not only motivate teachers but also spotlight the transformative power of education.
As the ceremony concluded, the awardees expressed their gratitude and shared their aspirations for the future. "This recognition is a testament to the hard work of countless educators across the country," said one awardee. "It inspires us to continue our mission with renewed vigour."
President Murmu’s celebration of these educators highlights the enduring value of teaching in today’s society, underlining that the role of a teacher extends far beyond imparting knowledge—it is about inspiring the next generation to dream and achieve.
