President Murmu Honours Teachers for Pioneering Educational Efforts

In a vibrant ceremony at Vigyan Bhawan, New Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu celebrated the ingenuity and dedication of 82 educators from across India. The occasion, marking Teachers' Day, was a tribute to the architects of the nation's future. These educators, drawn from various educational sectors, were recognised for their pioneering contributions to teaching.

The President awarded 48 teachers from the Department of School Education and Literacy, alongside 21 from higher educational institutions and polytechnics. Their projects ranged from mobile science labs that bring practical learning to remote areas, to the creation of science parks using recycled materials, and even QR-based botanical trails that transform traditional learning into an interactive experience.

President Murmu, while presenting the awards, paid homage to Dr Sarvepalli Radhakrishnan, the philosopher-president whose birthday is commemorated as Teachers' Day. She underscored the importance of educators in shaping students who are not just academically sound but also sensitive and entrepreneurial. "In today's rapidly changing world, it is imperative that our students are prepared not only with knowledge but with values that will guide them to become responsible citizens," she remarked.

As the educators received their awards, the stories of their initiatives painted a picture of a progressive India where education is not confined to textbooks. By incorporating technology and sustainability into their teaching methods, these teachers are not just imparting knowledge but inspiring a generation to think critically and act conscientiously.

The event also served as a reminder of the challenges the education sector faces, particularly in rural and underprivileged areas. Yet, the innovative solutions of these educators offer a beacon of hope, suggesting that with creativity and determination, the barriers to quality education can be overcome.

As the ceremony concluded, the message was clear: education is the bedrock of a nation's development, and teachers are its most crucial pillars. President Murmu's words and the accomplishments of the 82 awardees echoed a shared commitment to a brighter, more inclusive future for Indian education.
