ZPC Entrusts Lummus with Record-Breaking PDH Unit
In a bold move that signals the growing confidence in cutting-edge technology, ZPC has appointed Lummus Technology to construct what will become the world's largest propane dehydrogenation (PDH) unit. This ambitious project, with a capacity of 900 KTA, marks a significant leap in the scale of PDH developments.
At the core of this monumental endeavour is Lummus's renowned CATOFIN technology, a system that has gained acclaim for its high efficiency in light paraffin dehydrogenation. The CATOFIN process, which has been paired with Clariant’s catalyst innovation, promises to deliver unprecedented production outputs.
Romain Lemoine, Chief Business Officer at Lummus Technology, highlighted the mutual trust that underpins this collaboration, stating, "ZPC's decision to entrust Lummus with the largest PDH unit ever built speaks to the proven performance of CATOFIN technology and the depth of our partnership."
The project not only underscores the capabilities of Lummus but also points to a strategic alliance with Clariant, a company celebrated for its pioneering catalyst solutions. Lummus's scope in this venture is comprehensive, encompassing the licensing of both CATOFIN and Novolen technologies, basic design engineering, training services, and catalyst supply.
This new PDH unit will stand alongside another in China, also licensed by Lummus, further cementing the company's position as a leader in the petrochemical sector. The significance of this project cannot be overstated, as it sets a new benchmark for production capacity and efficiency in PDH technology.
As the world continues to seek more efficient and sustainable industrial processes, the collaboration between ZPC, Lummus, and Clariant is a testament to the power of combining innovative technology with strategic partnerships. This landmark project is poised to redefine expectations and drive forward the boundaries of what is possible in the realm of propane dehydrogenation.
