Bihar CM Calls for Grassroots Movement to Safeguard Environment
On a day dedicated to celebrating the planet, Bihar's Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary has made a heartfelt appeal to the people of his state: make environmental conservation a part of your daily life. Speaking at a ceremony for Bihar Prithvi Diwas, Choudhary unveiled an ambitious 11-point pledge aimed at converting environmental protection into a mass movement.
With the backdrop of the 77th State-Level Van Mahotsav, an event traditionally focused on tree planting and forest conservation, the Chief Minister's message was clear. 'We must embed the values of conservation into the very fabric of our culture,' he declared, urging citizens to engage wholeheartedly in tree plantation and other green initiatives.
The pledge, which includes commitments to reduce waste, conserve water, and promote sustainable agricultural practices, is a clarion call to action. It is not merely a governmental directive but an invitation for grassroots involvement, a sentiment echoed by notable environmental activist Sundarlal Bahuguna. He stated, 'True change comes from the people, not just policies.'
This initiative reflects a broader national trend. Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has also championed the idea of a people's movement, highlighting that governmental efforts alone cannot combat the growing ecological challenges. Choudhary's vision includes green drives across all 90 Assembly constituencies, making it a truly statewide endeavour.
As the environmental challenges of the 21st century mount, such initiatives stress the importance of local action. By rooting these efforts in cultural values and daily habits, Bihar aims to set an example for others. The success of this movement, however, will ultimately hinge on the enthusiasm and commitment of the people themselves.
