Nasha Mukt Yuva Campaign: A Nationwide Health Revolution
In an ambitious endeavour to combat addiction, the 'Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan' is sweeping across India, uniting young and old in a shared mission of health and pride. Launched under the banner of MY Bharat and the National Service Scheme (NSS), this campaign is more than just a series of activities; it is a movement aiming for a profound societal shift.
On 25th September 2026, the NSS Unit of the Institute of Port, Shipping & Logistics Management at Srinivas University hosted the 'My Health, My Pride' event. It was part of a larger initiative to promote awareness about health and the dangers of addiction. Over 1,47,798 individuals participated in 1,455 activities nationwide, underscoring the campaign's extensive reach and impact.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a virtual address, inaugurated the campaign earlier in August, calling upon spiritual organisations, industry bodies, and educational institutions to join this critical mission. His endorsement highlights the campaign's significance in the broader framework of national health initiatives.
The array of activities includes signature campaigns and youth pledges, which serve as public declarations of intent to lead a life free from the shackles of addiction. These efforts, however, are not merely symbolic. They represent a concerted attempt to reframe public discourse on addiction and health, steering it towards resilience and empowerment.
Importantly, the campaign also addresses issues of sexual and reproductive health, particularly focusing on the rights of young women and girls. By integrating these themes, the initiative recognises the interconnected nature of health issues, aiming for a holistic approach to well-being.
As the campaign progresses, the hope is that it will foster a culture of awareness and responsibility. With substantial participation and governmental backing, 'Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan' aspires to make a tangible difference in the lives of many, encouraging a future where health is indeed a source of national pride.
