Nationwide Drive Fights Addiction with 'My Health, My Pride'

In a spirited endeavour to combat addiction and promote health, the 'My Health, My Pride' campaign under the Nasha Mukt Yuva Abhiyan has captured the attention of thousands across India. With slogans echoing in different corners of the nation, the campaign has been a clarion call for an addiction-free society.

Launched by MY Bharat in collaboration with the National Service Scheme (NSS), the campaign began on 20 September 2026, with a remarkable participation of over 1.47 lakh individuals across 485 units. The initiative aims to instil a sense of pride in maintaining good health and making informed lifestyle choices.

One of the highlights of the campaign was the Rashtriya Sankalp Samaroh, a nationwide event where participants engaged in signature campaigns and took pledges to abstain from addictive substances. This was more than a mere formality; it was a public declaration of personal commitment to sobriety and health.

The campaign's theme, 'My Health, My Pride', resonates with the global health movement, encouraging individuals to take ownership of their well-being. From schools to universities, and NGOs to community centres, the message is clear: a healthier nation starts with healthier youth.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, in a virtual address on 2 August 2026, had underscored the importance of a drug-free society as a cornerstone for developing India. His message was clear: the nation needs its young population free from the shackles of addiction to drive progress.

Activities under the campaign have been diverse, spanning from awareness workshops to health check-ups, all aiming to educate and empower the youth. The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with many young participants expressing newfound determination to lead healthier lives.

As the campaign progresses, its impact on public consciousness remains to be fully realised. However, the initial response suggests a significant cultural shift towards valuing health and rejecting addiction. The organisers are hopeful that this momentum will continue, making 'My Health, My Pride' not just a slogan, but a lived reality for millions.
